April has flown by and with all the best intentions, staying on top of the brilliant music flying about has been tough and with Faith party over Easter, LHM Artists roster all over the place moving dance floors and preps for our second Amor Andalucia, I can say with honesty, I very much dropped the ball on the music front. Not that we weren’t still listening, so now is the chance to highlight a few releases that really deserve your ears.
Petals In Sound – Dial Tone EP (Dirt Crew Recordings)
Out on the very last day of March, we have been all over this for the whole of April and although we aren’t super knowledgeable about Petals In Sound, we most certainly are going to be following her moves and shakes now. Big fans of Dirt Crew and this is a brilliant EP, equal parts creative, atmospheric, groove and house vibes. Take a listen below and BUY HERE!
Local Talk – 13 Years Part 2
We featured the excellent part 1 of this random celebration of 13 years but as we said before, who cares as it has allowed us to revel in the delights of one of the finest house music labels around. Part 2 works in a similar way with both previous Local Talk collaborators alongside new producers to the label which we hope to hear again soon. Ralph Session – Black Jukebox 35
The series presented by Shir Khan from the Exploited imprint is now on number 35 and Ralph Session with the help of DJ Amir take control for this latest release. Released on vinyl at the end of January, there are still one or two on plastic you can get your hands on, however it has just been be released on digital for your listening pleasure. If you follow Ralph on our pages, you get more of his dance floor heavy 4/4 house and his collaboration with fellow LHM Artists family member DJ Amir is a piece of quality deep spoken work goodness, two things right up my street. Son Of Sound – The Unreleased DAT Tapes 2
There are loads of 90s inspired house music releases right now but this is Son Of Sound dropping actual 90s creations that never saw the dance floors at the time. Serious NYC vibes, the lead track even features the stunning vocals from the late Sabrynaah Pope. Henry doesn’t release as much as we would like him to so whether these are from 20+ years ago or new creations, we will take what we can get. Take a listen below and BUY HERE!
Conrad – Firefly EP
A bitter sweet release for label Closer To Truth as this is their 100th release but sadly Conrad took his own life and it is with amazing strength and thanks to the Colson family that this wonderful EP is available for your listening pleasure. Four brilliant original tracks are accompanied by two great remixes from Crackazat and Elliot Hollins. And to quote words from his father Richard Colson “Conrad is no longer with us but he has left an astonishing number of songs that should now reach a wider audience. He was driven to create musically throughout his life and in this sphere, he excelled and was able to set to one side aspects of his life that caused him distress”.
