More great releases have crossed the counter this month and here are just a few to dancin’ in September! Check out a few of our hot pics below.

Jimpster and Crackazat – Natural Child (Freerange Records)
Jimpster and Crackazat join forces on what has to be on one of 2023s best of year lists surely? The ‘Natural Child EP’ feels like it was destined to always be, the sublimepairing of these two masters of their craft a musical match made in audio heaven. On this emotionally rich, soulfully harmonic, deep house beauty, the tracks movethrough shoulder crunching key changes and different tones of house, each cut
showcasing Jimpsters expert ability to select just the right moods and chords, combined with Crackazat’s warmth, and emotionally loaded voice. Nothing but a slice of pure heaven.

Flamingo Pier – Beneath The Neon (Razor-N-Tape)
Razor-N-Tape just keep dropping bomb after bomb. New signing Flamingo Pier have released on London’s Afro imprint Soundway Records, and here the Auckland trio bring their own brand of tropical disco on the ‘Beneath the Neon EP’. Our ears are immediately zoned in on the weightier remixes, first up from Chicago’s Glenn Underground, whose ‘GUakaCVO Stank Face Mix’ of ‘Remedy’ elevates the soulful disco original to a more serious sundown beach club affair. JKriv brings the heat with his sizzling dancefloor-rocking ‘Disco Dub’ that features the legendary Steve Monite on guest vocals and is sure to set those late summer dancefloors on fire.

Jackie Moore – Holding Back (A’s + Bees)
Jackie Moore first covered David Simmons’ classic ‘Holdin’ Back’ in 1983, and in 2023 Moore’s high energy disco heat lands on London’s A’s and Bees. The classic cut is brought up to date with a set of remixes first from edit royalty John Morales, who delivers two versions with his ‘Breakdown’ and ‘Chin Mental’ mixes in collaboration with Sergio Munzabai. As and Bees also welcome Italy’s rework wizard Moplen, who makes the most of the soaring string section, turning this EP into one truly essential purchase for September record bags.

Frits Wentink – Remember That Feeling (Wolf Music)
One of our fave labels, WOLF Music, releases an EP from long time label member Frits Wentink. He’s not been about for a while, but he is back with an explosion on his ‘Remember That Feeling’ EP. Shades of Mood II Swing on this wonky three track bomb from the Dutch studio don. One for the heads, the DJs, and the dancers. Track ‘Intentions’ is as deadly as it gets and if dropped at just the right moment, will utterly destroy any dancefloor.

Ralph Session – Be Stronger ft Carla Prather (Nervous Records)
As he works his way through 2023 dropping belter after belter, Ralph Session teams up once more with vocalist Carla Prather following a great release a couple of years ago. Be Stronger has all the soul you need alongside extended chords, layers of keys but with a synth laden edge to take this well into the night. Picked up by Nervous, this is a great fit and with a cheeky dub remix from Ralph and additional mixes from Marc Cotterell, this is another release from a man seriously on the charge you need in your life.

Nebraska – Funkbraska (Friends & Relations)
A big favourite here at LHM is our Nebraska and it is always a good day when we get a release through from the all round creative fella, with this new track out on his own Friends & Relations label. Channeling his French Touch and Uncle George’s P-Funk synth-soldier Bernie Worrell, Nebraska produces a late summer gem which also thrives on the the bass guitar of session ace Dan Hawkins and keys from Daniel Leseman, one half of the amazing Fouk. Check it out below and don’t be surprised if you end up with a big grin on your chops!
