As we very much look forward to the release of the forthcoming Crackazat LP, the artist releases the first of two EPs featuring tracks from the album. If this is a taster of what is to come, then we are in for a treat as this Beacon of Light EP is next level goodness!
This, I have no doubt, will be one of my releases of 2022, the musicality, production, creativity, soul, musicianship and vocals across the EP are, what I can only describe, as beautiful. The title track to the EP ‘Beacon of Light’ has so much groove and soul surrounding the inspired vocal, it just bursts with positivity and brings forth a gentle smile and shake of the head. The Maritime Dub of this track takes it up a notch with heavier beats and plenty of focus around the rolling bass line, leaving just small vocal samples from the original, setting this up perfectly for a later night dance floor work out.
When you think things can’t get much better, they throw house maestro Ron Trent in for a cheeky remix of ‘Simple Things’. The stunning percussive arrangement of beats alongside the free jazz inspired piano and falsetto vocal makes this a track you will easily lose yourself to on any dancefloor.
Finally, ‘Evergreen’. The title track from the forthcoming album is another jazz influenced house gem. The introduction of chord progression and cymbals set the tone before the beats, horns, backing vocals and happy bass line take this to the clouds!
