Packed with funk, this package delivers a mix of the original, stunning samples and edits. If you are one for soul drenched funked up disco, house with all the trimmings, then this is a must.
Brighton’s Titeknots start the ball rolling with “On My Mind”, building a dancefloor stomper around stunning slap bass hooks, vocal sample and killer piano layers. It picks you up from the outset and doesn’t drop you back down until the final beats.
Adeline is an incredible vocalist whose funky and soulful track “See You After Midnight” has been given a rework by Kraak & Smaak, who have added beats for the dancefloor but retained the stunning vocal, killer bassline and guitar strands from the original. Extended for our listening pleasure. I love Adeline and well worth searching out for her recent Intérimes LP and the remix album of this also.
Get To Know is a producer who I am very aware of from previous releases with the likes of Midnight Riot and Kitsuné. I have to refer to the release info received (without being a lazy reviewer, but sums up perfectly), “Love Taught Me” is “a masterclass in rhythm magic”. Afro tinged house beats of some class sit alongside a vocal sample we know and love plus layers of sonic goodness.
Edit time for the final track of the four with “S For Sexy” from Scruscru. Making full use of the original, the brass section and bass take their place at the forefront while new beats and affects take this to new levels.
