As the sun starts to shine and we break from the greyness, it is about time we picked some of the best releases currently working the dancefloors. With a host of absolute gems currently available, do let us know if we have missed any of your current favourites. As always our own Barry Fold Out has put all of our selections together in an hour long mix for your listening please.

CRACKAZAT – SUN (Freerange) LP
We’ve been waiting for this all year after first hearing about the LP. The man himself has been teasing on his socials with hooks galore, offering a taster of what was going to drop and it is a thing of beauty. Jazz, soul, funk, disco, house wonderfully infused with a host of amazing musicians and vocalists. I remember when Ski Oakenfull released his Life Changes LP and i am getting all the same feels. I will be listening to this in 20 years time, just like I am with the aforementioned. It is pure class from Crackazat – 6 out of 5!

LOUIS VEGA presents FUNKI CADETS – FEELING GOOD TONIGHT / KAI ALCÉ REMIX (Vega Records)
Featuring Willy Soul, Feeling Good Tonight was released during the second half of 2025, but just out this April is the remix package which sees Willy Soul on remix duties plus DJ Minx, Rimarkable and Kai Alcé. It is the latter we are focussed in on as the US producer offers a deep, soulful and jazz infused remix, one for the house dancers and will most certainly be seeing plenty on airtime at our parties. VARIOUS – THIRTY YEARS OF FREERANGE VOL 1 (Freerange)
Jimpster and Freerange are going to get a lot of love this year as the label turns 30! What a milestone and testament to the integrity and underlying quality that the imprint has continued to deliver since day one. Focussed on looking forward and new music, Freerange will be dropping 30 new tracks from 30 different artists over five EPs. This first of the bunch sees 5* offerings from Ralph Session, Philippa, Palm Skin Productions, Josh Wink, Nacho Marco and Lovebirds. Yes that does sound unreal and you would be right. Hard to pick a favourite from these gems but we have gone for Ralph and Nacho in the review mix.
Release date 29 May.

NATASHA DIGGS / MEGATRONIC – PEOPLE (The Jazz Diaries)
It’s been a while in the making since this transatlantic started sharing their mutual respect and love in 2023 and it has culminated in this brilliant new EP People, featuring two original pieces in Leen and People. ‘Leen’ is to be released first and features the classy vocals of Megatronic for a soulful and deep workout while ‘People’ brings the funk and hooks galore and is all about the groove. This is an EP packed with soul and style and all about the dancefloor. Add a couple of dubs and a remix from JTPWM and this is one EP you need in the bag for the summer. Released through May.

Taken from her album ‘Mali’, this track, using the old football cliche, is a game of two halves. Tech heavy stabs and synths push the track forward and out of the blue, a jazzy piano hook takes the track to the final whistle! Love it. Out now.
