London house hero Terry Farley has been at the forefront of the UK house scene for over 30 years and it’s a privilege to have him and his long term production partner Pete Heller play for us upstairs in the incredible wood beamed loft at North Fest 10.
As busy as ever with plenty of new music coming out, Faith fanzine back in action and a diary full of gigs, we caught up with Terry before his third summer of love.
LondonHouseMusic – What record from 2020 lockdown can we expect to hear from you at North Fest 10 ?
Terry Farley – Jungle Wonz feat Harry Dennis – Human Condition. Wonderful ancient oak of a record that was rediscovered by Marshall Jefferson in his Mum’s garage. It also gave us an in with Harry to make ‘Ghosts‘, a record that see’s the return of the Black Science Orchestra (who have done a wonderful remix for us) ?’
LHM – Which other artist are you looking forward to checking at North Fest 10 ?
TF – Janet Kay singing ‘Silly Games‘, I bet everyone’s said that. We just have to recreate the fantastic acapella moment from Small Axe. Really hope she drops out the music so that happens.
LHM – Do you have a favourite remix that you and Pete have made?
TF – Yes the Baby Wants To Ride remix, our tribute to Frankie Knuckles
LHM – What are you looking forward to in 2021 as we come out of lockdown?
TF – Loads of rearranged 2020 gigs inc the Defected festival in Croatia and plenty of great U.K. parties. Also we are deep into production of the 3rd issue of Faith fanzine with a guest cover we are so excited about and a special insight into New York’s clubbing history (68 – 82). I’m excited we can use these terrible lockdowns as reminders just how special our scene / scenes are and not waste time laying on the couch watching ‘ the Voice ‘ but crack on with your crews on the dance floor.
